Project : Oñati Parish

Oñati Parish

OÑATI, Spain

This is a XV century church; its cloister dates back to the XVI century and its bell tower is from the XVIII century. Due to the poor condition of the rock, the decision was made to restore the most damaged zones. Accordingly, work was done on the façade of the parish, the clock and the pinnacles, and loose rocks on the outside walls were also tightened. The total height of the Parish Tower is 56 m.

Solutions were provided in this restoration project with 0.70 m wide BRIO Multidirectional Scaffolding. Given the need to save different of the façade’s projections, cantilevers and broad platforms have been used to guarantee accessibility to the workers around the whole parameter.

Two faces of the tower are directly supported over the ground, and the other two faces rest against the roof, which is protected with sand bags.

It was not considered necessary to reinforce the inside of this support area.

The restoration crew gained access by way of an aluminum BRIO Ladder.83,200 kg of materials were used, and the assembly took 3 weeks.
